The principle
Ask after first real use
A review request works when the customer has formed an opinion and still remembers the purchase. Too early, and they have nothing to say yet. Too late, and the email feels unrelated.
Count the delay from the moment the product reaches the customer, then add the time it takes to use it properly.
Starting points
Delays to test
- Consumables used on arrival, such as food: a few days after delivery, or hours in a custom timing schedule.
- Clothing and accessories: about a week after delivery.
- Skincare, supplements and anything judged by results: three to six weeks.
- Electronics and equipment: two to three weeks, to cover reliability.
- Furniture: trigger on delivery, then one to two weeks.
Steps
Set different timing for some products
- 01
Set a sensible default
Use Request scheduling for the timing that suits most of your catalogue.
- 02
Create a custom timing schedule
Choose Add custom timing for a product, name the schedule and choose its trigger and delay in days or hours.
- 03
Add products
Add the products that need different timing.
- 04
Review after a month
Look at Analytics and the requests list. If few customers respond, try a different delay.
